ELITE LEAGUE LATEST...
EASTBOURNE co-promoter Mike Bellerby is full of optimism ahead of the Knockout Cup Final against south coast rivals Poole, with the Eagles staging the first leg on Sunday.
Bellerby said: "We have twice beaten Poole at Arlington this season and there is no reason at all why we cannot do it in the cup final. Our riders are absolutely on fire, and the semi-final victory over Wolverhampton was quite stunning.
"No-one could have predicted we would win the home leg by 34 points and then win the next night at Monmore Green. It certainly shows what this team is capable of, but we don’t under-estimate the task ahead."
IPSWICH are offering free entry to accompanied under-16s who turn up to Foxhall Stadium in spooky Halloween fancy dress (with an Evening Star voucher) for next Thursday‘s Promotion/Relegation race-off against Newcastle.
Witches Director of Speedway Chris Louis said: "We’re the Witches and this is the biggest meeting of our season as we battle to maintain our Elite League status and we have been warned that Newcastle won’t be taking this lightly so we need all the help we can get!
"It’s a bit of fun and all the kids who get involved will be invited to the infield at half time for Witches Skipper Danny King to pick the top three who will each receive a voucher to spend in Toy Attic on Heath Road in Ipswich, with the winner also being presented with a Junior Season Ticket for 2011!"
POOLE star Leon Madsen, who played a significant role in the Pirates' KO Cup semi-final win over Peterborough, believes the competition offers the club the ideal opportunity to take some reward for a very strong season.
Madsen said: "It is good to get back amongst the points. I have never felt so low in my speedway career as I did after that Coventry match, but now we have got a good chance to make up for that disappointment by going flat out for the cup against Eastbourne."
